How Second Chance Accounts Work
Check cashing services typically charge anywhere between 2% and 10% of your check’s face value. This can get expensive without access to your own checking account at a local financial institution. Our Second Chance Account stipulations include:
- A $10 monthly fee
- A $25 minimum balance in your Savings
- Debit card only (no checks)
Your Second Chance Account can be converted to a traditional account, which includes no monthly fees, no minimum balance, and access to checks by:
- Maintaining your Second Chance Account in good standing for 12 months without any new unpaid items reported to our ChexSystems
- Proof of completing two of the following courses provided by credit.org

The minimum balance to open and maintain a Second Chance Account is $25.
There is a $10 monthly service fee for Second Chance Accounts. After 12 months, you have an opportunity to open a basic Share Savings and or Checking Account with no monthly fee.
