Board of Directors
By applying for the role of Director on the Board of Directors at White Rose Credit Union, you commit to serving as a voting member, develop policies and procedures, and oversee the Credit Union’s finances, products, and performance. You agree to fulfill all the obligations listed below and will immediately resign if you are unable to meet the duties and responsibilities of the position. You must fully understand your fiduciary responsibility and agree to perform your duties to the best of your abilities.
Obligations
- Establish policy: Develop and implement policies for White Rose Credit Union.
- Support Leadership: Select, annually appraise, and support the President/CEO.
- Financial oversight: Monitor finances to ensure financial soundness.
- Strategic Planning: Develop, monitor, and update long-range plans.
- Member Services: Ensure products and services meet member needs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with regulations, policies, and trends to make informed decisions.
- Conflict of Interest: Report any conflicts of interest to the Chairman immediately.
Meeting Attendance
- Regular meetings: Attend the regularly scheduled monthly meeting and any additional meeting as necessary.
- Committee participation: Serve on Board committees as appointed and attend committee meetings as necessary.
- Special events: Attend the Annual Meeting and other Credit Union events as necessary.
- Strategic sessions: Attend scheduled strategic planning sessions.
Specific Duties
- Meeting attendance: Attend regularly scheduled meetings, typically once a month.
- Preparation: Be well-informed on agenda items before meetings.
- Idea exchange: Engage in open exchange of ideas.
- Decision making: Participate actively in decision making.
- Representation: Represent the Credit Union positively to the public and members.
- Training participation: Attend training events to enhance your knowledge and better serve the membership.
Supervisory Committee
Obligations
- Audits: Complete internal audits, review completed regulatory audits and ensure management addresses any audit findings in a timely manner.
- Member account verification: Coordinate and review member account verification audit every two years.
- Reporting: Report audit findings to the Board of Directors.
Specific Duties
- Meeting attendance: Attend regularly scheduled committee meetings.
- Minutes review: Review the minutes of Board meetings.
- Surprise cash counts: Conduct surprise cash counts.
- Loan file review: Perform random reviews of loan files.
- Security evaluation: Evaluate security systems.
- Bank reconcilements: Verify bank reconcilements.
- Operational Review: Review the overall operation of White Rose Credit Union.
- Policy adherence: Ensure adherence to approved policies.
